The Swinging Bridge 8-Miler

This 8 Mile Run starts and finishes at the incredible Open Gate Brewery, and runs under the historic Thomas Viaduct and all the way to the iconic Swinging Bridge! You can learn more about the Thomas Viaduct here, and the Swinging Bridge here.

Why the Swinging Bridge 8 Miler?

The Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park and Guinness Open Gate Brewery are partners in supporting stewardship and access to Maryland’s first state park! Located in a bustling section of PVSP, the Swinging Bridge serves as a vital link between Howard and Baltimore Counties. Each participant, gets two beers, a medal and a handcrafted sling and Nalgene bottle from our partners at Sewlab! (no t shirts at this event, the premium is one size fits all!)

Our Community

We are a community of park stewards and who work collaboratively to support Patapsco Valley State Park. Our programs and events are grassroots, low key and focused on building investment and access for all park users. Please note: this event uses “running time” timing, we will not be utilizing chip timing for this non-race event.
